One of the main missions of the University of Dunaújváros is to be a university that provides such strong professional knowledge within engineering and IT field that is nationally and internationally attractive.

It is equally important for the university to strenghten its professional position in the field of social sciences and teacher education. This endeavor is supported by the 30 million HUF tender that the university won from the Pallas Athene Domus Educationis Foundation, supplemented by the university’s 3 million HUF.

With the support of Pallas Athene Domus Educationis Foundation, the University of Dunaújváros is launching a project aimed to develop the extracurricular economics competences of the students of Business Administration and Management BA. The knowledge this program provides to the students will be useful in their future work and public duties and also results in a significant improvement of their professional skills. The program consists of 4 sub-programs. All of them provide opportunities for both professional and individual development.

Sub-programs:

  1. Developing online courses, providing online training
  2. Organizing conferences
  3. Implementing international teacher and student mobility
  4. Organizing summer-university

Based on the latest curricula developed during the last few months the online training has been launched on 8th October. The main target group are Business Administration students, but students from other majors also have the chance to complete the courses. The first half of the two semester focuses on the inividual, while the second half focuses on the society and new aspirations, embracing 4-4 topics in each semester. The website created within the framework of the tender provides students access to the curriculum and all informations needed during the year.

The conference related to the PADE program will take place ont he 14th October this year within the framework of the Week of Science program series of the university. Besides the developers of curricula, experts from abroad will also be invited to present their research results.

International experience and professional brainstorming is also an imprtant element of the project. During the academic year, within the framework of the project, 15-20 students will have the opportunity to particpate in a field trip abroad. The first trip will take place in the second half of October by visiting the Instituto Politecnico de Leiria in Leiria, Portugal. Within the framework of the one-week program, students will attend professinal lectures and workshops to familiarize themselves with the training and financial structure of the university and to have an insight into the international aspects of economy.

The project will be closed by a 6 weeks long summer-university, which will contain trainings for developing competency and interactive workshops that will provide students successful employment in the labour market.

Quantum levitation, electrostatic isolation, silver mirror test. Only a few interesting experiments of the almost thirty that were presented on the Researchers’ Night at the University of Dunaújváros.

As a part of the nationwide program series called Researchers' Night, the University of Dunaújváros opened its doors again to host residents of the city and its neighborhood on the last Friday of September. Organizers were about to provide an insight into the world of applied sciences by presenting lectures and interesting experiments. The entire Campus area was open to visitors, who could choose among the programs of the higher education institution educational units (Institute of Engineering Sciences, Institute of Information Technology, Social Sciences, Teacher Training Center). For example, hundreds of visitors could learn about MAIDLAB's work in the Hungarian Acoustic Industrial Diagnostic Laboratory such as: - screening solid bodies with ultrasonic scanners; detecting surface scars of solid bodies with eddy current scanners; displaying standing waves in Kundt tube - fast-paced examinations; endoscopy; sound source localization; visualization of sounds on real-time spectrogram.

Like last year, most of the attendants were curious about dr. Miklós Horváth’s (Director of the Institute of Engineering at the University of Dunaújváros) presentation, entitled: "Let's Prevent Gravity! Spectacular Physics Experiments!" The participants could experience fascinating, interesting phenomenons presented through demonstration tools, illustrating physics of them by tools like Van den Graaf generator - Lenz cannon - Gauss cannon - Magnet levitation - Superconducting: Meissner effect - Quantum levitation - Thermoacoustic Rijke tube - Water boiling at room temperature - Magdeburg hemispheres - Nitrogen rocket.

Those who were interested in media were acquainted with the mystery of the autocue, broadcasting, greenbox, and studio cameras at the University's television studio.

During this year's Researchers' Night took part two hundred and seventy places across the country, nearly three thousand programs were presented to everybody from youngsters to elders to make researchers’ job more attractive.

Within the framework of European Mobility Week the Municipality of Dunaújváros and our university organised a conference entitled "Modern Cities Program - Promotion of Electromobility".

The Presidential Board of the conference was formed by dr. György Ágoston Vice-Rector for Science and Research, dr. Ildikó Angerer Petrovickij Dunaújváros County Chief Environmental Advisor, dr. László Kadocsa Chairman of the Scientific Council of the University of Dunaújváros and dr. László Balázs project manager, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences.

Dr. László Kadocsa’s opening speach was followed by dr. András Nagy’s presentation about Electric airplanes. Dr. Attila Szabó, the second presenter talked about the Past, present and future of electric vehicles. He was followed by dr. Endre Kiss with his presentation entitled: Energy issues of electromobility. Dr. Péter Bajor’s exposé was entitled: The future’s charging stations in our homes. The conference’s last presenter dr. István Szabó displayed the Operation of the 21st century energy system to the participants.

As one of the key knowledge centers in the surrounding region, the University of Dunaújváros took a leading role in organising local events in the framework of the European Mobility Week to be held between 16-22 September 2018.

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK campaign provides the perfect opportunity to present sustainable mobility alternatives to local residents and to explain the challenges that cities and towns are facing. By taking part, towns and cities can showcase the benefits of cleaner transport choices and make progress towards better mobility in Europe.

Besides joining the different events organised by the Municipality of Dunaújváros all over the week, UOD will host a full-day program series under the name  "Electromobility - Green Day at the University of Dunaújváros" on 20 September.

Electromobility is one of the main research areas at the University of Dunaújváros. Our Electromobility Day will start with a scientific conference, where researches of our university present the latest result of their work. The conference will be followed by a Sports Day, where UOD students, professors and colleagues can join the different sports activities and competitions. An exhibition on electromobility-related topics will be held in the A building where visitors can see and learn more about e.g. electric cars, VR simulator, solar, tracking and gyroscoping robots and IPAD games. The same exhibition will be available next day as one of the program points of the city’s Car-Free Day.

The Student Union of the University of Dunaújváros welcomed new university citizens in the framework of the Freshmen's Camp held between 6-8 September 2018.

This year's event was special from many pont of views, but mostly because this was the first Camp where Hungarian and International students could enjoy the programs together.

On the first morning of the Camp students attended to orientation sessions where they could get insight into the university life in general, and received information about their chosen study program. The orientation morning was followed by team-building activities where 10 teams of Freshmen competed with each other.

On the second day Freshmen could attend to the Opening Ceremony of the academic year, and during the afternoon their adventures continued with geo catching and a video game party.

On the third and closing day the Camp continued on the Danube river bank at the Szalki island, the most beautiful natural-geographical spot in Dunaújváros. And last but not least, each day's program was followed by a party organized on Campus with both live music and DJ's in order to help the new students build a real community.

A significant part of them can begin their studies within the framework of Stipendium Hungaricum and Young Christians scholarship programs. According to Dr. András their intention remains to continue to strengthen the student-centered approach which can help to avoid to have falling numbers.

Soon the lessons start for the students but before launching, the freshman’s camp welcomes the newbies from September 6th, Thursday until September 9th Sunday. In the evenings, Rockbox, Névtelen Utca and Dj. Juhász Laci will entertain the participants.
