MÁV Group conferred presidential honor on the head of our institution

Dr. habil István András has been singled out for a distinction by the management of MÁV Group due to the occasion of the LXVII. Day of Railwaymen. The company employing 38.000 persons honoured the rector of our University of Dunaújváros for his outstanding professional efforts that he has done for the interest of the work force supply in the area. He contributed to reconciliation of matters like re-starting the training of railwaymen and some other profession in short supply. For his commitments Ilona Dávid, the general manager of MÁV Group conferred a presidential honor on him on the jubilation event held in the Hungarian Railway Museum.

25 international students received their diplomas on the Graduation Ceremony that was held on 23 June at the University of Dunaújváros.

Dr. habil. István András, Rector of UOD handed over 212 diplomas altogether to fresh graduates of the university. In his speach the Rector congratulated all graduates and expressed his hopes that beside the theoretical and practical knowledge they have studied, they also could gather unforgettable experiences and memories, and ensured that the doors of UOD are allways open to former students as well.

A large Hungarian delegation took part in the International Education Fair in Astana, Kazakhstan between 23rd and 24th June, which was organized by the Association of Kazakhstan President’s Bolashak International Scholarship Fellows collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In organizing this fair the 2nd Summit Meeting of Ministers for Education from the EU and Central Asia.

 

On the exhibition besides nine other Hungarian higher educational institutions and the Ministry of Human Capacities, the University of Dunaújváros were also represented.  Yerlan Sagadiyev, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan – who had the privilege to open the event – also visited the Hungarian delegation and expressed his acknowledgement. According to him there is a raising awareness towards Hungary from Kazakhstani students, and the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship provides the students of the country with a unique and excellent opportunity. He was also pleased that the available places concerning the scholarship have been further widened. To the programme of the delegation joined András Baranyi, Ambassador, who greeted the people showing an interest in the presentation of the Hungarian delegation about their country and higher education opportunities. Later on he visited the booths of the Hungarian institutions.

 

Although the fair took place after the study period at the schools, quite a large number of students paid a visit to the exhibition. Also local high school students are well aware that soon they need to choose their path, therefore many parents took their children to inquire about different requirements, conditions of selecting a foreign institution. The fact that Astana organizes the World’s Fair EXPO 2017, where they have recently opened the Hungarian stall, gave the event an elevated rank.

Cooperation agreement was made about student and lecturer exchange and research collaboration between the two higher educational institutions.

On the 22nd June 2017, on Thursday a new Chinese delegation visited the University of Dunaújváros. The delegation of 5 persons arrived from the Guangdong University of Finance and Economics having 25 000 students, from the city of Guangzhou under the direction of Dr. Du Chengming, the Vice President of the university.

 

 

Representing the University of Dunaújváros dr. habil Mónika Rajcsányi-Molnár, the Vice Rector of Academic and General Affairs, dr. Katalin Kukorelli, the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences, dr. Andrea Keszi-Szeremlei, the Head of the Department of Economics, Katalin Gyöngyössy, the Head of the International Relations Office and József Vágó, an international relations coordinator met the guests.

 

 

In the campus tour the delegation got to know the educational infrastructure of the University of Dunaújváros, then through presentations each university provided to each other information about their educational and research areas. The representatives of the two higher educational institutions continued negotiations about the 3+1, 2+1-year-long study programs, a Final Year program and a scholarship opportunity that can be provided to the student by the Chinese state. An inter-institutional agreement was also signed, in the frames of which student and lecturer exchange and research cooperation can be made real in the future between the two universities.

Representatives of the University of Finance and Economics from China visited the University of Dunaújváros. The main aim of the meeting was to establish partnership between the two universities.

 

 

This university is located in Jianxi and it has 40000 students mainly from the area of finances. With its 7th place, it stands quite high on the ranking of the Chinese universities. Que Shandon, the university’s vice-president led the delegation from China, while from the University of Dunaújváros’ side dr. Katalin Kukorelli the head of the Institute of Social Sciences and Katalin Gyöngyössy, the head of the International Relations Office greeted the guests.

 

 

After the introductory presentations the guests had the chance to take a view of the infrastructure of our university during the campus tour. On their meeting the two institution tried to focus on those study programmes and trainings which provide a good base for the further common work. The aim of the visit was to establish a cooperation with the University of Dunaújváros concerning the Business Administration BA training in English language. Moreover, it is the institutions’ aim to develop mutual student and teacher mobilities, online courses, double degree programmes and the summer university course.

 

 The annual NAFSA Conference and Expo was held in Los Angeles from 29th May -2nd June 2017.  This is one of the world’s most gathering and comprehensive event of international educators. The number of participated countries was over 100. It is a great place to meet and to celebrate international education.

 

 

 

Among other 8 Hungarian universities the University of Dunaújváros represented its own institution on the Hungarian „Study in Hungary” booth within the frame of Campus Mundi program. Some meeting appointments were set in advance with colleagues from partner institutions from the USA, Brasil, Colombia and UK in order to discuss the further steps of collaboration. There was also a great opportunity to establish new partnerships between UOD and other institutions from all over the world.
