The renovation of the Main Building was accompanied by the modernisation of the gym, which is closely linked to the building.

On 6 February 2025, the University of Dunaújváros's gymnasium was inaugurated, which, like the Main Building, has undergone a complete renovation in recent years.

Among other things, the roof structure has been replaced and both the facade and the slab have been covered with new thermal insulation. The windows and doors have also been replaced and the electrical and heating systems have been renewed. The changing rooms have also been completely renovated and the fighting area has been covered with a sports mat, on which volleyball and basketball courts have been painted.

András Péter Kiss, President of the Sports Association of the University of Dunaújváros, said. Having high quality sports facilities has always been an outstanding competitive advantage for us, and now, with this development, this opportunity has been taken to an even higher level. We are grateful to the Foundation, without which this would not have been possible.

The new hall is of special importance for our departments: our basketball, table tennis, floorball and futsal departments will finally return here after a long time, and our DSE Volleyball teams will also use the renewed courts. The new infrastructure will also give us the opportunity to restart popular university sports such as football, basketball and volleyball in the spring in modern conditions - depending on interest, of course.

Expanding university sports facilities

We have made significant progress in expanding student sporting opportunities in recent years. We have developed successful partnerships with a number of sports clubs, with whom we can offer a wide range of sports. For example, the partnership with the DSE Volleyball Academy has added colour to our volleyball training and competitions, while we have partnered with the Angels Ice Hockey Association to offer opportunities to try ice skating, floorball and hockey.

We have also made handball available to students in partnership with the DKKA, while the Steel Bhoys have supported the sport of curling. These new opportunities enrich the lives of not only the athletes but also the entire university community, contributing to the development of physical and mental well-being.

With a renewed infrastructure and an expanded range of sports, we are moving ever closer to becoming one of the region's preeminent sporting centres.
