The Hungarian Fuzzy Society (MFT) Youth Prize was awarded on 13 April 2022 to Dr. Ákos Odry, lecturer at the University of Dunaújváros The core activities of MFT cover all the disciplines collectively known as Soft Computing, Intelligent Techniques and Computational Intelligence.

Dr. Ákos Odry has been working on the development of fuzzy-based adaptive techniques for the control of mechatronic systems since his PhD studies. He has shown that fuzzy logic and fuzzy-based inference systems handle uncertainty well and can significantly improve the performance of closed-loop control loops. Furthermore, his current research also focuses on the development of fuzzy inference systems. Despite its almost 60 years of history, fuzzy logic still proves to be one of the most effective methods for solving intractable and uncertain problems by incorporating heuristics and applying fuzzy sets.

The above results are supported by the current publication list, where fuzzy-based systems have been published in several reputable journals, such as:

  • Odry, Ákos, et al. "Kalman filter for mobile-robot attitude estimation: novel optimized and adaptive solutions." Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing 110 (2018): 569-589.

Dr. Ákos Odry was also elected as the new Secretary of the MFT at its Annual General Meeting on 13 April 2022.

Congratulations to our colleague on his successful research and appointment!
