Nowadays working with a complex approach as well as multitasking is highly demanded on the labour market and that is what Engineering Managers do. Engineering management is the application of the practice of management to the practice of engineering.

Successful engineering managers understand that taking an integrated and systematic view of management supports reaching operational activities, meeting deliverables and achieving organizational goals.

At the University of Dunaújváros Engineering Management program consists of 7 semesters. During the first four semesters of their studies, our students are provided with strong foundations in both engineering and management, in fields like physics, mechanics and mathematics, as well as in management, business economics and marketing. From their fifth semester, students are taking subjects related to their specialization, that is focusing on logistics with subjects like supply chain management, enterprise logistics, planning of manufacturing processes and enterprise resource planning.

But what exactly are the tasks of an engineering manager? In short, their job is planning, scheduling and distributing processes, resources and information. From procurement to manufacturing, from sales to warehousing, they are the ones who manage and control key operations, define performance indicators and optimize processes.

The appreciation of both business and engineering issues means that the prospects of students after graduation are excellent. The technological, managerial and interpersonal skills and knowledge acquired will open up a wide range of career opportunities in functions such as:

  • project management,
  • product design,
  • logistics,
  • quality management,
  • servicing and maintenance.

There’s no one single reason why a degree in Engineering management is the best career path you can take. So, let’s focus on the main ones:

  • There’s no such thing as a bad idea in Engineering Management - in your Bachelor’s studies, you’ll always be encouraged to come with solutions and different angles of approach.
  • Studying Engineering Management is flexible - you can pursue a more technical or a more management-oriented path, customising your approach based on your interests.
  • Look around and you’ll only see the work of engineering managers everywhere - your cup, your laptop, your scarf: everything needs someone to plan their production, their distribution and their recycling.
  • You’ll be part of a dynamic field - technology always evolves, and you will have to keep up with it all, always learning how to bring about innovation.

Students’ opinion

“My studies at the University of Dunaújváros allowed me to have sufficient knowledge to start a career (right after my degree) in my study field and face up with real life activities. I am sure that UOD students will get the best learning tools/materials with the best teachers in order to achieve or meet their objectives at the end.”
