With a total amount of more than 1.6 billion Hungarian forints and with a European Union financial support that equals approximately 1 billion forints the production technology of the aluminium products of Arconic-Köfém Mills Products Hungary Co. Ltd. has gone through further development in cooperation with the University of Miskolc, the University of Dunaújváros and the Széchenyi István University.

Cooperation between the University of Dunaújváros and the Alcoa Company and later on the Arconic Köfém Co. Ltd. has got a long history; the university already participated in finding solution to several tasks of the company, and this was the basis of the relationship, which helped it to be involved in this GINOP project. After the establishment of the consortium an industrial manager was needed, who was nominated from the Arconic-Köfém Mills Products Hungary Co. Ltd. and the participation of 3 universities (the University of Miskolc, the University of Dunaújváros and the Széchenyi István University) was necessary, as well.

This GINOP project, in which our university took part, too, has just been closed. We are speaking about a successful teamwork, in which the industrial experts, engineers were working together with university lecturers, researchers, experts and tried to elaborate such achievements that can be built into the industrial processes to improve the efficiency of them. They managed to make real improvements, such as the better quality, the smaller internal industrial refuse, the smaller number of customers’ complaints, the improved recovery, the shorter production period, the better utilization of capacity, and the reduction of energy consumption.

The participants in the project got to know each other, the work and the capabilities of each other, the industry got closer to the universities and the universities to the industry. This project managed to unite the thorough and detailed knowledge of the universities and the practical experience, overall knowledge and problem-solving skills of the industry.

Looking at the future prospects it can be concluded that cooperation between the university and the industry will be continued after the end of GINOP, as well, and it may lead to further collaboration in new EU projects.
