A Hungarian delegation consisting of representatives of the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources, the Tempus Public Foundation, the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and eight Hungarian universities visited Jordan between 10-12 October in order to promote the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program and Hungarian HEIs in Jordan.

Jordan's large youth population and emphasis on education gives European universities a unique opportunity to recruit Jordanian students. Hungary, with its high-level education and attractive scholarship program can become one of the most popular destinations. The 3 days long program series offered the participating institutions the possibility to present themselves both to prospective partner institutions and to students.

The delegation participated in the Study in Europe Jordan 2017 education fair organised in Amman on 11 October, where our representative had the chance to meet prospective Jordanian students wishing to pursue their university studies in Hungary.

Beside recruitment activities, the university representatives took part in the Study in Europe Networking Event, where Hungarian and other European HEIs had the chance to meet and discuss cooperation possibilities with representatives from Jordanian universities. The event reached its goal: several Jordanian universities showed interest in cooperating with our university in the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program.

In the last couple of years the University of Dunaújváros has made every endeavour to to attract Jordanian students to UOD. We hope that this participation in Study in Europe Fair Jordan and the Networking Event will contribute to achieve our goals, and we will soon be able to welcome more colleagues, full time and part-time students from Jordan in Dunaújváros.

With Summer fading into Autumn, the International Office of the University of Dunaújváros organized the first excursion of the academic year. We travelled to Veszprém and Balatonfűzfő on the 29th of September.

Veszprém also known as ’The City of Queens’ offered us many tourist attractions to visit. We took a guided walking tour around the old town, the castle and all the beautiful buildings this city can offer to its visitors. Fortunately, the weather was perfect and it was good to see how our international students from all over the world enjoy each other’s company.

After a quick lunch we had to continue our way to Balatonfűzfő where we have spent an exciting afternoon in the local Adventure Park. Almost all of our students took the challenge to complete the medium difficulty adventure trail which turned out to be harder than many of them expected. It required concentration and energy but in the same time it was funny and an exciting for everyone. Even if they were exhausted reaching the finish line, most of the students completed the trail and deserve respect for that. We hope they enjoyed the excursion and they will remember it fondly.

The International Relations Office organizes different trips and excursions each year for the international students of the University of Dunaújváros hoping that they get to know more about our country and culture.

The roles were changed at the 7th International Club on the 27th of September: usually the audience - Hungarian and international students from the university and a local high school - could learn interesting facts about faraway countries. But this time enthusiastic first-year Television Producation Assistant students, Viktória Kis, Dzsenifer Steinbach, Attila Bedőcs, István Szabó and Patrik Niver gave a presentation about the city of Dunaújváros, the Student Traditions of Selmecbánya and the Hungarian student life in general. It was a great pleasure to see that the International Club has reached one of its main goals: Hungarian and International students got more and more open towards each other’s culture, and they began to organise common programs.

The International Club was lunched last year by the University of Dunaújváros with great success. Date of the next Club meeting: 25 October 2017 (venue: University of Dunaújváros, Building F, Room F326)

Everyone welcomed!

The International Relations Office organized an orientation day for the international students arriving for the new academic year on the 7th of September. The aim of this programme was to give more details related to their studies and provide them with some useful advice concerning their university life. During the morning session the new students could experience the atmosphere of a lesson, but to ease the mood, cakes and drinks awaited the participants.

During the afternoon the colleagues prepared some activities for the students who were separated into groups in the meanwhile. They needed to discover several checkpoints located in the city and - by completing interactive tasks that required different skills or knowlege - the freshmen could get to know each other more.

From 20 countries aprroximately 80 new international students have started their studies in September at the University of Dunaújváros and their total numberis higher than ever.
