Krisztina Sitku, Assistant Professor at the University of Dunaújváros (UoD), presented the challenges of Hungarian dual vocational education and training at an international professional conference in Dortmund, Germany.
The International UNESCO Chair Conference 2026, organised by TU Dortmund University, took place from 30 September to 2 October 2026. The conference focused on opportunities for international cooperation in higher education and technical and vocational education and training, as well as on bridging the theory and practice of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Krisztina Sitku attended the conference at the invitation of Prof. Dr Philipp Grollmann. During the poster session, she presented her research entitled “Challenges of Learning Environments at the School-Work Boundary: The Case of Hungarian Secondary Dual Training.” The research examines the challenges of learning environments in Hungarian secondary-level dual vocational education and training, with particular emphasis on coordinating school-based education with practical workplace training and exploring the specific characteristics of transitions between the two learning environments.

Throughout the three-day programme, Krisztina Sitku attended plenary lectures and several thematic professional sessions. The event also provided valuable opportunities to expand international professional networks. She established new contacts with representatives of higher education institutions, research organisations and professional bodies from Germany, Croatia, Norway, Indonesia and Malaysia, among others.
Her participation contributed to strengthening the University of Dunaújváros's international professional relations and promoting Hungarian vocational education research to a wider audience. The conference also offered an opportunity to further develop the University's existing professional relationship with TU Dortmund University and lay the foundations for potential future collaborations that could support the University's international engagement and research activities in the long term.
As the only Hungarian invited participant at the event, Krisztina Sitku represented Hungary, contributing to the international recognition of both Hungarian vocational education research and the University of Dunaújváros.
