International Days were hosted again at the University of Dunaújváros from 23-25 March 2026. The main topic of the event was Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants from seven countries attended the series of events, strengthening the university’s international network and professional collaborations.

The three-day event started on Monday with the opening ceremony, where the rector, the vice rector of the university and the general director of the board of trustees welcomed guests from Hungary and abroad. One of the main objectives of the International Days was to build relationships and establish new collaborations; in this spirit, participating institutions were given the opportunity to introduce themselves. During their presentations, they described their institutions, their educational programs, their research profiles and their future plans.

The program then continued with a campus tour and laboratory experiments, where guests were able to gain insight into the daily life of the university and explore the fully equipped engineering, physics and machining laboratories. Faculty members from the Institute of Technical Sciences made the visit even more memorable with spectacular demonstrations, such as a physics experiment (levitating objects, liquid nitrogen experiments), CNC milling, and wire spark demonstrations.

As a fitting end to the day in style, a gala dinner was held in the stately surroundings of the Károlyi Palace in Fehérvárcsurgó. Inside the imposing building, Countess Károlyi gave the guests a tour, telling them not only about the building and the cultural events held there, but also about the family. In addition to the cuisine, cultural programs enriched the evening: harp and cello music, as well as a Hungarian folk dance performance, created a special atmosphere.

The second day focused on academic presentations, during which Hungarian and international experts shared their latest research findings in the field of AI. The series of plenary lectures was opened by Dr. Zoltán Szűcs, Dean of Esterházy Károly Catholic University, with his presentation titled “You write sixteen pages, what do you get?” This was followed by a presentation by Zsolt Krutilla, a lecturer at the University of Dunaújváros, titled “AI-based NLP Methods for Automated Banking Complaint Classification.” The program concluded with a presentation by Dr. Francisco Arcas Túnez, a researcher at the Catholic University of Murcia, who discussed the latest trends in the development of AI in a talk titled “The agentic era. Maturing from Chatbots to Autonomous AI Infrastructure.”

The event also played an important role in showcasing Hungarian culture. To conclude the academic day, participants attended a dinner combined with a wine tasting at the Fritz Winery in Szekszárd, where they had the opportunity to learn about the traditions and flavors of Hungarian wine culture.

On the final day of the International Days, guests took part in an excursion to Lake Balaton Region. During the program, they first enjoyed the view from Szigliget Historic ruins, then sampled traditional Hungarian dishes—goulash soup and fish soup—in Vonyarcvashegy. To conclude the day and the series of events, they explored the city’s landmarks and the shores of Lake Balaton in Keszthely.

The work does not end with the successful organization of the event. The staff of the International Relations Directorate are constantly working to identify further opportunities for cooperation and build partnerships so that our joint efforts and collaborative thinking can continue.
