The Rwandan ambassador paid a visit to University of Dunaújváros (UoD).

UoD is among the first Hungarian higher education institutions where the ambassador visited for an introductory meeting on March 12, 2025. The purpose of her visit was to establish and develop student and staff mobility between the two countries. During the meeting, UoD's programs, international relations, scientific research groups, and laboratories were presented.

The new Rwandan embassy in Budapest opened in 2024 with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation opportunities between the two countries. Rwanda has undergone significant development over the past decades, particularly in education and science. The country is committed to finding partners in Europe in higher education and research and development.

Ambassador Margueritte Francoise Nyagahura spoke highly of UoD's infrastructure and educational offerings. She emphasized the importance for Rwandan students to receive quality education in a safe country, and UoD could be an excellent destination for those wishing to pursue further studies.

The visit concluded with a campus tour, during which the Destructive and Non-destructive Testing Laboratories, as well as the Machine Workshop, were introduced. The delegation met with Rwandan students currently studying at UoD, who shared their experiences and stories from their time at the university.

Following the event, the Directorate of International Relations invited Chantal Uwimana, a Materials Engineering BSc. scholarship student, to represent foreign students in the UoD Students’ Union.

The relationship between Rwanda and Hungary has been growing closer since 2023. Currently, there are over 40 Rwandan scholarship students in Hungary, five of whom are students at UoD (three of them with the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship).
