On October 17, 2024, the Academic Year opening Ceremony for the Scholarship for Christian Young People program took place at the beautiful St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest.

 The University of Dunaújváros were presented by six of it’s SCYP Scholarship Holders and their coordinator.

The event began at 11:00 a.m. with a Roman Catholic Holy Mass celebrated by Father Esiobu Anayo Augustus, offering a spiritual start to the program for the international students, staff, and guests in attendance.

 

 

Following the Mass, representatives from the Hungary Helps Agency, the organization coordinating the program, warmly welcomed the scholarship recipients. Mr. Tristan Azbej, State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians, highlight in his speach, emphasized the importance of the program’s mission to support Christian youth in their educational endeavours and to strengthen cultural ties through faith-based values.

Mr. Tristan Azbej also conveyed how privileged the applicants are who are awarded the privilege of participating in the programme.

 

A highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to the first-year students. These were awarded by the State Secretary for Aid of Persecuted Christians, recognizing the students' achievement and marking the beginning of their academic journey in Hungary.

After the formalities, the group gathered for a memorable family photo, capturing the spirit of community and unity among the scholarship recipients.

The ceremony concluded with a standing reception, where participants enjoyed refreshments and the opportunity to converse with fellow students, Hungary Helps staff, and other attendees. The reception provided a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, fostering connections and friendships among the international scholars as they looked forward to the year ahead.
