On October 16, 2024, Budapest played host to the annual Stipendium Hungaricum Welcome Event, celebrating the arrival of the new Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship recipients. Held at one of the city’s prestigious venues, The Danubius Hotel Helia this event brought together international students, university representatives, government officials, and members of the academic community to warmly welcome the scholars who have come from across the globe to pursue their studies in Hungary.

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, initiated by the Hungarian government, continues to offer talented students from partner countries the opportunity to study at Hungarian higher education institutions. The Welcome Event provided the perfect setting to introduce the new students to Hungarian culture, traditions, and the vibrant academic life they are about to embark on.

Attendees were treated to speeches by prominent figures, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, alongside university leaders who expressed their pride in Hungary's growing role as an international education. The speakers emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and academic collaboration that the Stipendium Hungaricum program fosters.

The student community of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Holders were represented by Hebatollah Hassan 1st year student in Computer Science Engineering Bsc, and our 2nd year Scholarship Holder Ilyass Jebraoui in the field   Mechanical Engineering.  It is also a tradition that the excellent student award is presented to the best students at the welcome event.

This year from UOD the 2nd year SH scholarship holder Ilyass Jebraoui was found worthy of the award.

Following the official program, the evening offered a chance for networking, with both the new and current scholarship recipients exchanging stories and experiences. A showcase of Hungarian music and dance added to the celebratory atmosphere, giving the students a taste of the country's rich cultural heritage.

The 2024 Stipendium Hungaricum Welcome Event marked not just the beginning of an academic journey but also the start of lifelong connections and friendships.

Congratulations to every Scholarship Holder who received the Excellent Student Award in the academic year 2024-2025, and warmly welcome our new Scholarship Holders.
