He received his appointment from Katalin Novák on 5 July 2022 at the Sándor Palace.

At its meeting on 17 May 2022, the Senate of the University of Dunaújváros supported the application of Dr. István András, habilitated professor, for the post of rector with 11 votes in favour. At the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the University of Dunaújváros on 24 May 2022, the present members unanimously voted to reappoint the current Rector for another four years. Dr. István András will start his third term as Rector, after being appointed by the President of the Republic on 1 July.
