Given the declared pandemic situation we are in at the moment, you can still use student cards with an expired sticker.

According to the announcement published on the website of the Education Authority (Oktatási Hivatal), university students  can use student cards with vignettes that would’ve been considered valid in both semesters of the 2019/2020 academic year and the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.

This extended timespan of validity is expected to stretch until the 21st of July, so if any of these kinds of student cards listed above are in your possession yet, then there is no need for you to be worried, as you can avail yourselves of public passport discounts in a quite calm manner.

Temporary student cards issued on or after 4 November 2020 shall be valid for 60 days after the end of the emergency as well, regardless of the period of validity displayed on the document. The temporary student carc can be scanned and sent electronically by the institutions, and the holders can print it out at home. Transport service providers also accept certificates with a printed signature and stamp, but do not accept certificates in electronic form (eg presented on a mobile phone).

It is important to notice that you can take advantage of this opportunity even if you have already completed your courses in school and you are not planning to study further right now – which means that your legal relation to our university as a student ceased to exist in the 2019/2020 academic year -, but you still have the student card with assumable validity in the semesters mentioned earlier.
