On 28 July, the University of Dunaújváros once again organised a cultural day trip for its international students, offering them the opportunity to discover some of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks while learning more about Hungary’s history, culture and architectural heritage.
The programme began with a guided walk around Kossuth Lajos Square and the Hungarian Parliament Building, one of the country's most recognisable landmarks. Students explored the surroundings of the building through an interactive outdoor programme led by colleagues from the International Relations Directorate.

During the walk, participants learned fascinating facts about the Parliament’s construction, symbolism and architectural features, while also discovering several important monuments surrounding the square. The programme included stops at the Kossuth Memorial, the equestrian statues of Francis II Rákóczi and Count Gyula Andrássy, the monument dedicated to Count István Tisza, the statue of Attila József overlooking the Danube, the 1956 Kossuth Square Memorial, and the poignant Shoes on the Danube Bank memorial.

Rather than following a traditional guided tour, students were encouraged to take part in discussions, answer interactive questions, compare historical sites with those in their own countries, and complete creative photography and phone-based activities. These interactive elements created opportunities for participants from different cultural backgrounds to share their perspectives while learning about Hungarian history in an engaging and memorable way.
Following the walking programme around the Hungarian Parliament, the group continued their day with a pleasant stroll through City Park (Városliget), where they also visited the picturesque Vajdahunyad Castle, one of Budapest’s most distinctive architectural landmarks. The students then headed to the House of Music Hungary, where they explored the Dimensions of Sound – Musical Journey Through Space and Time exhibition. Through interactive installations, immersive audiovisual experiences and innovative technologies, the exhibition guided visitors on a fascinating journey through the history and evolution of music, providing a memorable conclusion to the day.

Beyond visiting famous landmarks, the excursion also aimed to strengthen the international student community and encourage cultural exchange outside the classroom. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to get to know one another better, exchange experiences and create lasting memories together while discovering the Hungarian capital.
