Mechanical Engineering BSc

Ema Basovic is our Alumni student from Serbia. She graduated from UOD in the field of Mechanical Engineering BSc in 2020.

After her graduation she started her master degree in Mechatronical Engineering study porgram in Budapest, Hungary and at the same time she is working as a Junior Mechanical Engineer at the Schneider Electric company.

Ema actively took part and were involved in different laboratory projects regarding the impact of particular chemicals and metals on planet earth thanks to the fact that she was a hardworking and good student so she gained the trust of her professors during the first year of her studies.

Today’s interview is about Ema’s opinions and thoughts about the years she spent as a UOD student. Thank you Ema for your kind words and we wish you good luck for your future studies and career life!

How did you decide on choosing the University of Dunaújváros and the study program?

It wasn't simple to choose, but the only thing that I had at that moment was my family. I trust them and I hope that they know how much I appreciate all that they have done for me because without them I wouldn't have been here. Dunaújváros kinda reminds me of my city of Prijepolje. Yes in Dunaújváros the Danube river is there but in my city, we have Lim river. We have mountain chains gorgeous hills and amazing hearth welcoming people. Coming from a small community I have decided to combine the small city with a great university and it was obviously clear that I will be deciding on UOD.

What things did you learn at UOD that were most helpful to you?

I will tell you that it is highly important to keep your work precise, correct, and always on time because discipline and hard work always payout. It is of utmost importance that first impression, which I always have from dear people I have met in UOD.

What is the relationship like between the students and the professors?

Professors are not just simple givers of knowledge, they will actually create an environment for you in order to study more, research better learns how to work in the group always question and at the end be completely sure that your full potential was given on certain subject/matter and as such is correct. Great people, all of my professors, I have been to their homes with several friends we had fun and they have understanding for us which is important. I am so happy to say that I have met one of the brightest minds in UOD.

What do you think of the campus of the university?

Great proximity to the dormitory and always filled with great vibes of people surrounding it, especially lovely team from international office for students.

What do you think of the extracurricular activities (programs, events, excursions) at UOD?

Strongly recommend all trips all activities each and every gathering, competitions and lots of different location with really good spirit people.

How well did UOD prepare you to enter the workplace?

Since day one, people know how to welcome you. Besides my great wish to learn and show my knowledge communication is important to establish with people. Different cultures and people from all around the world can be found in UOD. In order to learn something, you will have to speak with them. I have known several languages before coming to UOD, English and Turkish but while being here my English was highly upgraded with German and Hungarian, therefore with my native Serbian that would kinda put me in a position to be a polyglot. Enabling me to communicate with ease in Europe. I am currently doing my master's in the field of Mechatronics in Budapest. With an already stable job in well respected and known company Schneider Electric SE which is a European multinational company providing energy and automation digital products for efficiency and sustainability, I strongly believe that UOD prepared me for a very good and bright future.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering to apply to UOD?

I have learned never to spread false hype regarding your education via social media like some people do while being in a foreign country. Even though some people do possess limitations, it is highly important to realize that lying to people is highly breaching any limits of good behavior. For example, if you are studying a particular discipline namely architecture and you know that you are going to be good at it, it doesn't mean that you will be good in the department of biology since you have no idea how does that works nor how to implement any idea regarding this. If you by any chance promote yourself as intelligent on this level for a short while via social media, it might crush you in long run. Therefore keep your scope of interest within the framework of your department and try to be the best in it. Whatever you do, don't be an omniscient ignoramus and never try to deceive people via social media, it's bad for you for your family for your university. My advice is, you better check yourself before you wreck yourself.
