Although most of credit cards are widely accepted throughout Hungary if you are a scholarship holder or planning to apply for scholarships during your studies you will have to open a HUF based bank account as the amount of your scholarship can only be transferred to HUF based bank accounts.
What you need to open a HUF bank account:
- Your valid passport
- Your valid residence permit card
- Address card
- Student Status Certificate (issued by the Study Office)
Important: when opening a bank account ask for online notifications instead of the postal one! The bank charges you for the postal notifications while the online way is for free.
Notice: take into account that you have to close your bank account when you finish your studies and if you do not need it anymore.
