The article below provides a brief summary of the opening day of our Week of Science 2021 program series.

 

The opening of the series of events and the plenary session took place in the “A” building of our University on Monday, 8 November. The event was opened by Dr. habil. István András, Rector of UOD.

The first speaker of the Plenary Session was Pál Kovács, State Secretary for the Maintenance of Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The topic of his presentation was "The Challenges of Security of Electricity Supply", in which he presented the issues related to the security of electricity supply in Europe and its details.

Afterwards, Lóránt Kóti, PR Manager of Rosatom Central Europe Ltd. held his presentation entitled “The Evolution of Russian Pressurized Water Reactors and the Closure of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle”. The presentation reviewed the development of the Russian pressurized water VVER reactor family, presenting the main parameters and safety features of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant’s most up-to-date 3+ generation units equipped with a VVER-1200 reactor.

The next presentation was given by Dániel Balogh, Head of Market and Business Development, and Zoltán Horváth, Application Engineer, on behalf of Linde Hungary Ltd. Their topic was "Presentation of Linde Hungary Ltd., description of hydrogen production equipment". Participants were able to learn about the possibilities of using liquid and gaseous hydrogen in transport, energy storage and the replacement of natural gas.

The final presentation of the meeting was given by dr. Andrea Keszi-Szeremlei, professor and director of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Dunaújváros. Her presentation was titled “ The rise of green finance”. In her presentation, she addressed the financial issues behind sustainability and environmental protection.

During the afternoon, the program continued with plenary sessions of institutional conferences. The Conference on Sustainable Economics organized by the Institute of Social Sciences was held in-person in Room F-305 of the University of Dunaújváros as well as online on Microsoft Teams, while the Conference on Modern Pedagogy organized by the Teacher Training Center was opened in Room 206.
