One of the requirements to be eligible for the residence permit for study purposes is to have a valid health insurance with accident and sickness coverage. As stated in the Letter of Acceptance, the Generali Studium student health insurance is available to make upon enrollment to the university.

The health insurance contract of the Generali-Providencia Insurance Inc. offers the following services to the foreign students during their stay in Hungary:

  • Covers the 50% of costs of the insured person’s necessary medication and medical treatment arising from illness or accidents. The insurance company’s service obligation only extends to cover the outpatient treatment and hospital treatment in Hungary. 
  • /The insurance does not cover dental treatment (except for emergency and resulting from accidents), hospital nursing due to pregnancy and abortion, the cosmetic and rehabilitation treatment and alcohol and narcotic detoxification cures, illnesses caused by the AIDS virus./ 
  • The basic charge for the health insurance for one year is 70.000 HUF (as of 2016).
  • The insurance is valid for 1 whole year: from 1 September till 31 August the next year.

 

Health Insurance Registration Procedure

  1. To apply for your health insurance, come around to the International Relations Office and fill in the registration form.
  2. Go to Raiffeisen Bank (address: 2400 Dunaújváros, Vasmű út 39., Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/k3r1AvJ3adt3g3WW8) and pay the fee of the insurance which is 70.000 HUF/year via the cheque you received from the IRO.
  3. After paying the fee of the insurance you will recieve an invoice at bank. Bring it back to the International Relations Office, in exchange for that you will recieve your „Red Insurance Card”
  4. With this card the holder is entitled to make use of the services in accordance with the conditions described above. (The card is valid only with the passport!)

 

Please note that the Generali Studium health insurance is valid only within Hungary, so it won't cover any medical services abroad. Should you travel to another country for a short trip, we advise you to make a travel insurance.
