On 1st September, 2020. an unusual Opening Ceremony have been held at the University of Dunaújváros within the framework of a Festive Senate Meeting.

The first day of September every year is the Hungarian Higher Education Day, so it is an extremely important holiday for us. In order to protect the health of students and employees, the University of Dunaújváros organized the opening ceremony of the 2020/21 academic year in the framework of the Festive Senate Meeting. In live with the regulations a only a reduced number of guests took part in the event with mandatory use of masks.

 

 

The ceremony began with the opening speech of Dr. István András, Rector, where he reported on the challenges of the past months and the provisions taken by the institution. In his speech, he addressed first-year students and thanked them for applying and being admitted in good numbers for the trainings of the university. He emphasized that from September 2020, the University of Dunaújváros will continuously keep in mind the support of student success and the implementation of practice-oriented training. In line with the health provisions from September 2020, the University of Dunaújváros will hold theoretical courses in digital online form, while in the case of certain courses the laboratory and practical subjects will be held in small groups in the second half of the semester.

The Rector's greeting was followed by the oath of the first-year students, which this year was held in an unusual way as on behalf of the students it was taken by Anett Tóbiás, President of the Student Union.

 

 

The ceremony ended with the handover of the awards. Pál Kovács, State Secretary for Maintaining the Capacity of Paks Nuclear Power Plant, received the title of “Honorary Associate Professor” for his support work in establishing and the efficient operation of the institution of Paks Competence and Research Center of the University of Dunaújváros.

Géza Pekárik, CEO of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Zrt. and President of the Consistory of the University of Dunaújváros, received the title of “Honorary Citizen of the University of Dunaújváros” for his professional support in the cooperation of University of Dunaújváros and MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Zrt.

Ferenc Tóth, a member of the Board of Directors of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Zrt. received the title of “Honorary Citizen of the University of Dunaújváros” for the measures and achievements taken during his career towards supporting the activities and development of the University of Dunaújváros.

Ágnes Krisztina Harrer, Head of the Quality Group of Evosoft Hungary Számítástechnikai Kft. recieved the "Rector's letter of commendation" for her outstanding work in compiling curricula, coordinating projects and supporting students of the University of Dunaújváros.
