Dear Students,
Dear Colleagues,
Dear University Citizens,

I am pleased to welcome you at the beginning of the digital semester.

I am happy to announce the successful completion of the first semester of the academic year 2019/2020 and I hope that we continue the work that we began in the spring semester to the satisfaction of everyone.

We have been using the Moodle framework system for approximately 10 years. 77 Hungarian and 28 English online courses have been already available. That’s around 100 courses, which we can rely on in the current situation. Furthermore we already have been using Moodle system to complete and supplement the traditional way of education. Of course the focus needed to be shifted a little bit in the current situation, but I can tell you that we have an excellent professional support: our organizational unit called Online Studium has been helping our university with developing online and distance education contents for over 10 years. Our teachers are prepared to hold their courses in an online form, and our students are ready to attend these classes.

This is a learning period for all of us. Learning period for you, Dear Students, and for us as well. Now you experience a great kind of freedom. This freedom of distance education is even greater than the freedom you have in the case of regular classes – as now you don't have to go to the university and attend the classes in person. You can do the courses from home. It is up to You to what extent you exercise this freedom. It depends on You, how You seize this opportunity, how high the quality of your submitted tasks will be, and whether you keep the deadlines.

As far as we are concerned, we will of course continue supporting You the same way as we always did.

I can only emphasize that our university students have never been considered only as a Neptun code. Supporting student success has long been an issue for us, and we count on You as well, because without your efforts, it obviously won't work for us either.

It is an exciting period for all of us. We are going to learn a lot from it and as I’ve just said I truly believe – the same way as You - that it will be a successful period. I am confident that at the beginning of next academic year I will be able to define the current one as successful and we all learn to our advantage from this new methodological approach.

I would like to wish You much success, a lot of learning, a lot of development, and as I used to say: a period of self-esteem and self-realization.

Good luck – Jó szerencsét - to all of us!
